Ep. 31 – The Philadelphia Story

Download the episode.

CLASSICS is back with the second episode of Season 2. After the deep cinematic dive of episode 1 with “Citizen Kane”, Brandon is taking us to a lighter side of the best films ever made by breaking down the romantic comedy “The Philadelphia Story”. Starring the ridiculous trio of Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart, this is the tale of a rich woman’s ex-husband and a tabloid-type reporter who turn up just before her planned remarriage. Hence she begins to learn the truth about herself.

Ep. 30 – Citizen Kane

Download the episode.

CLASSICS kicks off 2018 at the very tip-top of the movie mountain. In the 2 times the American Film Institute has made their list of the 100 greatest American films, “Citizen Kane” has topped the list both times. And even more, it is usually at the top of most all-time film lists. But why is that? It could be the savant Writer, Director, Producer, Star; it could be the ridiculously ahead-of-its-time cinematography and editing techniques. Or it could be all of these things. Buckle up because the Front Row Crew are diving deep on this one.

Ep. 28 – 12 Angry Men

CLASSICS is proud to be presenting its November selection as it is a favorite of every single member of the Front Row Crew. A film that carries an important message both for its time and for our own: “12 Angry Men”. A jury holdout attempts to prevent a miscarriage of justice by forcing his colleagues to reconsider the evidence. Starring Henry Fonda and literal army of renowned character actors from the 50s and 60s and beyond, this film teaches us many lessons about our justice system and even more about how we see and treat the people around us every day. This episode features Brandon Davis & Scott McFarland.

Ep. 25 – The Searchers

Download the episode.

We are very excited for episode 25 of Classics. So, full disclosure here (no not the other Front Row show). This episode of Classics was actually recorded about 6 months ago in the middle of a recording blitz. It was on the schedule but then certain events led it to be put in the archive and it stayed there far longer than it should have! Well, better late than never as Classics ventures into the world of the Old West for the first time. This is the highest ranked western on the AFI’s list of the Top 100 films of all time. Starting the consummate cowboy John Wayne as a racist Civil War veteran on a rescue path of vengeance against the Indians that stole and killed his family, this film grapples with many important issues under the guise of an action-thriller.

Ep. 24 – All The President’s Men (with John O’Connor)

Download the episode.

We are very excited for episode 24 of Front Row Classics. Given the current political times and the war on the press, we thought it’d be a good time to examine a true classic that rings truer today than it ever has: 1974’s true story of the Watergate scandal “All The President’s Men”. Staring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman as real life Washington Post reporters Woodward and Bernstein, this film brings an entire array of classic filmmaking to dissect. In addition to welcoming regulars Scott and Craig McFarland, we were also incredibly lucky to have on Mr. John O’Connor, who serves as the Associated Press’s Capitol correspondent in Springfield, Illinois. This is one discussion you do not want to miss!
